WebClarity
releases new BookWhere 4.3.1
Barrie, Ontario - February 1, 2005 - WebClarity
Software Inc. announced today the general
release of BookWhere 4.3.1.
Incorporating significant workflow enhancements as well as support for
the latest YAZ Z39.50 protocol stack, this release is available
free to all maintenance holders as a software update.
This latest version of BookWhere includes
support for FINMARC record syntax, an important feature for many of the
over 500 BookWhere users located throughout Finland who have been successfully using the software
to streamline cataloguing time and to reduce the operational costs associated
with building their library databases.
MARC 21 to MARC XML export conversions are now supported
as are conversions from Dublin Core RDF, further expanding the already
significant export options available to library staff and researchers which
include a variety of MARC and citation management system formats. The export window has been improved to allow
a cleanup previous search results and the ability to initiate a new search with
a single click.
BookWhere encompasses over 1900 pre-defined
databases including some key sources that are password controlled by online
subscription database providers that may charge for their value add services. For users who do not wish to make use of
these resources, it is now possible to exclude from the database display all
hosts that have password controlled access.
In addition to streamlining the product activation
and registration process for new installations, there is improved support for
proxy server settings and an automatic update check to notify users quickly of
new versions of the BookWhere software.
This release represents the first significant
update to the BookWhere product in over 2 years. The new WebClarity management team is pleased
to have met its goal in only 6 months of operating the business to be providing
an enhanced BookWhere to over thousands of its customers worldwide. WebClarity anticipates launching a new
release to its MARC Notepad product shortly and an additional new major release
of BookWhere within the next 12 months.
