BookWhere Tips & Tricks

Mandarin M3 Customers: Do you SendTo?

BookWhere's SendTo feature is available to Mandarin M3 cataloguing users. Typically, cataloguers will export BookWhere records to a file in MARC format and then use their cataloguing modules bibliographic import utility to load these records into their local system.

Mandarin M3 customers have a one click solution that avoids using any intermediate export file. With M3 Cataloguing open, find a record using BookWhere, click the SendTo icon on BookWhere's toolbar and choose M3 Cataloging. With that single click, your selected MARC record will simply appear in your cataloguing module. No more export/importing steps required!

How do you set this up?

  1. We recommend you upgrade to BookWhere 5.0 first.
  2. Run the Mandarin M3 SendTo patch.
  3. Restart BookWhere, find a record, SendTo-->M3 Cataloguing

If you have any questions about SendTo or implementing this with your M3 Cataloging System, please contact support@webclarity.info and we will be happy to assist!

Library Humour...

  • A young boy refused to do his homework, and his father was trying to convince him to do it. He said to his son: "When Abe Lincoln was your age, he was studying books by the light of the fireplace."

The son replied: "Well, when Lincoln was your age, he was President!"
  • Why did the librarian slip and fall on the floor?

She was in the non-friction section.

Customer Quotes…

All staff members using BookWhere have reported a high level of satisfaction with the system. Several have commented that it is a wonderful system.
Bob Cook, Saint Mary's University Patrick Power Library

Having BookWhere and MARC Notepad become a part of our daily routine have dramatically decreased time spent on creating our own MARC records.
The Cataloguing Department, Upper Grand District School Board.

I am extremely happy with BookWhere. We are in a new library six times larger than our previous library. With growth as rapid as ours has been, we have been also rapidly acquiring large and diverse quantities of materials. Cataloging these materials has been difficult and time consuming in the past. Even sources that provide MARC records usually did not have many of the items that we searched for. BookWhere has supplied us with many more accessible cataloging sources. This has made our processing time shorter and the cataloging more accurate. Thus, the turnaround from Technical Services to our patrons is reduced and our services are improved.
Kathy Whitehead, Mooresville Public Library

I work for a small private college with a limited budget. We have found BookWhere to be a very economical and efficient way to obtain the cataloging records we need to process our new media. It saves time and money since I have less original cataloging to do now that we use BookWhere.
Alice Eickmeyer. Southwestern College

Education's purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one.

A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove, but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child.
