Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library chooses BookWhere to replace expensive OCLC subscription
Judy Hill is the Manager of the Technical Services Department of the
Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library. She’s also Chairperson of the
Evergreen Indiana Cataloging Committee. Rising prices had made it too
expensive to continue subscribing to OCLC’s services, and the Committee
was looking for a solution to its copy-cataloging needs.
Some of Judy’s colleagues on the committee were already using BookWhere and recommended that the committee investigate BookWhere as an alternative. Some of the member libraries tried BookWhere for themselves and opted for a consortial purchase.
Responsible for cataloging the A/V materials, Judy is pleased with her hit rate and already has a favorite database that she searches first for new titles.
Plainfield’s first public library facility opened in 1901. In 1916, Plainfield Public Library began the first bookmobile service in Indiana. They moved into the current facility in 2000 and renamed to Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library to better reflect its service population.
