How do I move BookWhere to my new computer?
BookWhere is licensed to run on a single machine, so if you need to move your BookWhere license to a new computer, please contact support@webclarity.info and provide the following information:
- BookWhere Serial Number (In BookWhere, choose File->Properties)
- Reason for move (new computer, moving to different workstation, etc.)
- Confirmation that BookWhere will be removed from the old computer
Important Note: Under the terms of the License Agreement, a single BookWhere license/activation can be installed and used on only one workstation. If you have purchased a BookWhere Academic License (serial numbers beginning with BA...) you may install and activate the application on up to two computers for personal use. BookWhere cannot be activated on a new computer until WebClarity has issued you a new Serial Number.
How do I backup BookWhere settings?
BookWhere's settings are stored in files located on your computers hard drive. The location of these folders will vary based on your Windows Operating System as well as the Windows logged in username. We recommend that you backup these files and folders on a CD or network drive whenever you have changed settings
or database groups. If your computer is managed through a central network server some of these instructions may not apply to you. Please consult your network administrator for advice.
- Ensure BookWhere is closed while backing up your settings
- Backup the BookWhere Application Installer (e.g. BKWR600.exe)
- Backup the following folder (varies depending on your version of Windows)
Windows XP
C:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Application
Data\WebClarity Software Inc\BookWhere\
Windows Vista
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\WebClarity Software Inc\BookWhere\
Note: %USERNAME% is the login name you specify when Windows starts up. If you do not normally login when
Windows starts the username might be something like Default
User. If your computer is shared by several users, remember to make a copy of each user's BookWhere settings folder

Important Note: If you are changing computers don't forget to backup any Session Files or Export Files that you may be working with on your old computer. These will normally be in My Documents\BookWhere\ unless you save them elsewhere.
How do I restore BookWhere settings?
You will need the BookWhere Application Installer and a backup of your BookWhere settings.
Note: Customers with a WebClarity Maintenance Agreement can always download the latest BookWhere
Application Installer from our website, but personalized settings and database groups can only be restored if you have made a backup prior to a computer failure or computer replacement.
- Contact WebClarity Support if you are moving BookWhere to a new computer
- Install and Activate BookWhere on your computer
- If applicable, please read these instructions for installing on Vista
- Log in to Windows with your usual username and run BookWhere to initialize the environment
- Using the backup of your BookWhere Settings, copy all files to the appropriate location on your computer (varies depending on your version of Windows)

Note: If you have no backup and your old computer is not operational but you have co-workers who have BookWhere
environment, you can backup their BookWhere Settings
and use them as a starting point.
- Launch BookWhere and your settings should be restored. Yyou may be prompted to perform run AutoSync to correct any problems with your Database connection information.
