Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library chooses BookWhere for bibliographic needs

Update: Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library selected BookWhere Suite in 2011. Since that time they have remained a loyal supporter.  Below you will find the original testimonial provided by Judy Hill who explains their original decision.  Recently Mary Glaser who is the Manager of Library and Collection Services (as well as a member of the Executive Committee and the eContent Committee for Evergreen Indiana) shared with us an update on their use and enthusiasm for BookWhere Suite. “Plainfield Public Library has been using BookWhere for several years now, and continues to be very pleased with the product. There are four to five people cataloging for the library, and everyone has been very impressed with how easy it is to use. Importing quality RDA records is very important to the Evergreen Consortium, and BookWhere has been able to deliver. The simplicity of sorting search results, and also narrowing down searches to consistently reliable library databases is invaluable. Plainfield (and many other Evergreen Indiana Libraries) definitely plan to continue using this excellent and affordable product!” (Mary Glaser, Mgr of Library and Collection Services)   Judy Hill is the Manager of the Technical Services Department of the Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library. She’s also Chairperson of the Evergreen Indiana Cataloging Committee. Rising prices had made it too expensive to continue subscribing to an alternative MARC record service, and the Committee was looking for a solution to its copy-cataloging needs.   Some of Judy’s colleagues on the committee were already using BookWhere and recommended that the committee investigate BookWhere as an alternative. Some of the member libraries tried BookWhere for themselves and opted for a consortial purchase.   Responsible for cataloging the A/V materials, Judy is pleased with her hit rate and already has a favorite database that she searches first for new titles.   Plainfield’s first public library facility opened in 1901. In 1916, Plainfield Public Library began the first bookmobile service in Indiana. They moved into the current facility in 2000 and renamed to Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library to better reflect its service population.
