BookWhere helps prepare collection for new home in Rwanda!

When his good friend from college, Tom Martin, following his wife Margret’s suggestion, proposed a special project to Terry Ireland, Terry was more than happy to help. The Sembach Air Base Library in Germany had recently closed, and Tom, now living in Germany, helped to find a new home for it. The collection was donated to a Catholic College in Rwanda. Tom and Margret, with a number of civilian and military volunteers, packed up the library in the middle of last summer. Starting in February they spent five weeks in Rwanda putting the library and the automation system together. Terry’s job was to find MARC records for the more than 14,000 items. He needed to quickly find a powerful, high-quality MARC copy cataloging tool. He investigated options and chose BookWhere. He made significant use of BookWhere’s batch search function to expedite the process and to make the collection ready for easy integration into the automated infrastructure. “BookWhere was a perfect fit for the project,” comments Terry. We applaud this team of volunteers for their contributions to making a difference in Rwanda.
