BookWhere at Christian Brothers High School
Christian Brothers High School – Sacramento was founded in 1876 by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, a lay religious teaching order of the Catholic Church. Each day, the school strives to provide 1,054 young men and women with an excellent, college-preparatory education, always in a nurturing, faith-filled environment.
Because the school has such a rich, long history, our book collection includes a number of rare titles that had to be cataloged by hand. For the rest however, BookWhere provided me with all of the essential bibliographic records. It also helped me with ideas on how to best catalog my more unique titles.
Along with the usual fare for private high school reading, Christian Brothers has a unique selection of materials on St. John Baptist de La Salle, the French educator who is the patron saint of teachers and founder of the De La Salle Christian Brothers Order. The Lasallian studies collection includes many rare books and materials, including writings by La Salle himself and others by some of the other Brothers in the order. One of the more challenging items was a slide book with about a hundred portraits on heavy duty stock and audio visual aids. Having no idea on how to catalog the book, I turned to BookWhere to see how they cataloged similar, challenging titles. The section on A-V Titles was especially helpful in this endeavor and I am happy to report that BookWhere provided me with the tools I needed to catalog my unique items effectively.
If you are looking for a program that easily facilitates your cataloging, I highly recommend that you consider BookWhere.
